Our Team

Derek Wilkerson is the founder and President of Trio Wealth Advisory.  Derek’s unique perspective into financial planning is inspired from his experience regularly presenting educational events to the public across the state of Iowa and sitting down with folks across a wide array of demographic areas.  Over the years Derek has engaged with thousands of individuals and families helping them craft customized retirement and estate plans.  That real world experience has helped Derek build the framework of what Trio has become today.

As a coach, Derek prides himself in navigating complex retirement issues while building holistic plans that are easily understood and implemented.  He is a multi-generation Iowan and is very proud to be able to raise his family in his home state and make a career helping people pursue the goals they’ve set for their own families. Derek lives in Central Iowa with his wife Jennifer and two sons.  His passions outside of work extend to the outdoors, working on conservation projects, golfing, attending sporting events and spending valuable time with his family.
